PRAISE THE LORD, ALL YOU NATIONS!

EXALT HIM, ALL YOU PEOPLES! LET’S SING AND MAKE MUSIC FROM THE HEART. PRAISE HIS NAME IN THE DANCE AND THROUGH ART! HALLELUJAH!

6 March - 20 July 2026

The School of Worship is such a great way of delving into your relationship with God, learning what it means Biblically to worship Him, teach that to others, and lead them by example. We strive together for excellence in the musical aspect of worship, dive into an in-depth study of the Psalms and learn in lecture about all topics related to worship…

What is an SOW?

The School of Worship (SOW) imparts foundational values and principles to those intending to serve in worship among the nations.

We want to raise up trainees in three different areas: Heart, Mind and Hands. We will examine the heart’s motivation to worship, study and receive understanding about where worship comes from in the Word, and employ practical application of learning instruments and different creative methods of leading worship.

We do this by spending 12 weeks together in lecture, and then going out into the nations for practical outreach. During lectures we welcome teachers from many nations, backgrounds and trades of worship; such as dance, song writing, and art. As we explore these perspectives on worship, we also take time to rest and restore our souls in the beauty of Scotland.

From weekly street outreach, to hiking retreats, and song cafes, the School of Worship will equip you to lead others to worship the father in spirit and truth, deepening your relationship with God along the way.

What topics are covered in the SOW?

Character of the Worshipper

Why do an SOW in Scotland?

Our Paisley SOW aims to facilitate worship-leading as a team, musical skill development workshops, dance classes, worship in the creative arts, pottery, song writing and song cafés.

Along with building our skills to glorify the King, we complete an inductive Bible study of the Psalms, book reading, weekly journals, intercession, worship leading at Worship 24/7, spiritual busking, Arts Collective Open Mics, Celtic Daily Prayers , Scottish Cèilidh dances, a hiking retreat at the Isle of Arran and much more!

There are so many beautiful places in the world, and it can be hard to choose where to go for a SOW.

Why not Scotland?

Who can apply for an SOW?

Anyone who would like to be trained in worship and is called to help others worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth!

Whether you're a skilled musician or want to learn, together we hope to create a culture of creativity where trainees feel free to express their love for God in many different ways.

Our SOW is not only for musicians! We are looking for dancers, singer-songwriters, DJs, creative artists, videographers, evangelists, sound engineers, and other creatives who long to develop their skills and giftings for worship ministry.

The SOW is a three-month course with a two-month outreach. It is a second level school that is part of the Faculty of Christian Ministries with YWAM’s University of the Nations. If you would like to receive UofN credits for this course, you must have successfully completed a DTS prior to this school.

Many countries may not require a visa, but that doesn’t apply to all countries, so be aware your specific process may be unique.

OUTREACH PHASE

DECLARE HIS GLORY AMONG THE NATIONS

The heart of the School of Worship is to raise up worshippers who serve the nations, have the heart and mind of a disciple, a passionate love for God, and live a life of radical obedience.

We believe that whole-hearted worship plays a vital role in building God’s Kingdom. Participants will apply the teaching from lecture phase as they spread light in strategic locations through worship, intercession, prophetic declaration and creative evangelism. This is an opportunity for trainees to grow in their gifts as they serve in worship ministry in multiple settings, practice teamwork and give workshops to multiply and equip others in what they have learned.

This can look different depending on the locations and what is available to us. We try to be actively involved in various ministries to give the trainees a broad experience of worship ministry in missions. We will serve in areas of need in the community and evangelise through street outreaches and personal relationships. In recent outreaches, we have lead worship at kids clubs, youth festivals and events as a tool to preach the Gospel. We also set up teaching opportunities to meet the needs of local churches and other YWAM locations. We do this so that our trainees can learn to communicate their heart for worship.

Through cross-cultural experiences and new environments, that draw you out of your comfort zone, outreach provides an amazing opportunity for you to draw closer to each other and God. This life-giving time will be a safe place for you to be changed by our God, who is always seeking to define our character and grow our heart for others!

Our SOW outreach teams have travelled to various locations around the world. So far we have been to Malawi, the Philippines, the Netherlands, France, and all around the UK to Northern Ireland, Wales, England and our own Bonnie Scotland
