While all YWAM bases share the same 18 core values, there are also values specific to each base which are imbedded in the work and daily life of the team. These are the values of YWAM Paisley.

  • We do this on every street and in every room and conversation we enter. Because His presence changes us to be more the image of Christ, we also long to see other people transformed. We understand that we cannot go in our own strength. When we team up with Holy Spirit we find grace, inspiration and love for all. We seek this specifically through time spent with God in worship and the arts, building in us His presence to carry with us through the day.

  • Our team of missionaries is called to bring change wherever we go. We want to do this together, because we know that unity is a strong Kingdom asset. So we honour each other in our communication and relationships. That often takes some work, but we know it’s worth it. We want to be an inviting community. You see this in the work we do in town, too: we gather people around us, to grow together and go together. We don't throw out a few bits and bobs and hope for a good result; we build friendships through giving our time, offering hope, having a listening ear and often a helpful hand.

  • We see that there's only one Rock we can stand on: Jesus!

We remind each other regularly that it's all about Him. We want to be a part of change in the Paisley community as people realize who they were made to be. We, as carriers of hope, are ready to see dreams and passions rekindled. We want Paisley to dream again! We want to help individuals recover their strengths and giftings, so they start believing in a positive future. We know that true identity is found in walking with God, and that is what we invite others to do with us.

  • We have seen amazing talents in fine arts, media, music, writing, songwriting, dance, textiles and drama. And the rest of us love to try and play along. We love to use creative arts as a tool to bring people together and to reveal God to each other and the community in Paisley: through excellent pieces, personal messages and well thought-through programmes. We also recognize the sensitivity of the artists: the insecurities, the burdens they can carry, the ups and downs they experience, and challenges their gift-mix can bring.

  • A lot of our programmes are for young people. We desire to be part of shaping their future. We aim to help them find faith and meaning, create places for them to express themselves, talk about issues they experience and discover who they are. We are rooting for them in the hope that we will stay young and connected ourselves.

  • The gospel of Jesus is holistic and should be good news for the whole person, for all people and all creation. We are open to learn, demonstrate and teach what it means in our lives to care and protect the whole of creation: human and non-human. We see how our global neighbours suffer in areas most affected by issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, plastic pollution etc. and are called to shift our own lifestyle from wrong consumption to caring for creation in such a way that we all may flourish and leave a future for generations to come.

  • We are open to growth and offer a diverse and growing range of short trainings and schools that heal and equip us.

We open up to each other with our personal lives to be accountable, and to receive encouragement and prayer, so we can find healing for our own brokenness.
